Monica Hemmerde
Relevant experience and qualifications
I have 27 years of experience in the UN system (UNODC/UNOV, ICAO, IAEA and CTBTO) and 5 in private industry, having worked in Peru, the USA, Canada and Austria. Throughout my career, I have focused on Finance: as a senior manager directing a financial service, navigating internal politics to implement policies for a strong financial operation, while relying on my earlier hands-on operational background (accounting, budget, contributions, supporting systems, treasury, etc). I have strong experience driving policy while understanding the need to keep flexibility and broad thinking, to ensure financial security.
Candidate statement
As a long-standing member of UNFCU (over 20 years), I have a personal perspective of its usefulness to an international staff and how its services support us in managing our finances. I am very satisfied with its services and the way it is managed, and I would now like to give back, contributing to ensure its stability, competitiveness and resiliency, while making sure UNFCU continues to work in the best interest of its members, providing the many services that they find useful and necessary, and ensuring the security that they expect in a financial institution. I believe I represent a wide range of members of UNFCU, having worked in several countries and several UN system organizations.
